Single use concrete

Without de-carbonizing the civil industry, we stand little chance of achieving the goals set in the Paris Protocol Agreement.

The road construction industry has one of the largest levers to inhibit climate change through the reduction of carbon waste and ongoing consumption of concrete (the world’s greatest polluter, second only to vehicles) and the longer governments continue to do business as usual, the greater the cost.

“We consume more concrete every 2 years than all the plastic produced over the past 60 years”

If we are to achieve our goal of sustainable development that meets the needs of the present generation without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs, we need to eradicate the linear approach of buy, dig up and dispose of the concrete and buy again, providing no future benefit resulting in the ever-increasing consumption of concrete.

A game changer

Using the latest plastics technology, previously only used in the field of Aerospace, Smart Urban harnessed the resilience and durability of the latest advanced polymers to make concrete impact resistant, prolonging the lifespan of our city’s roads and footpaths.

This is a game changer for one of the most linear, waste intensive market sectors enabling them to achieve Zero Waste and Zero ongoing consumption of concrete, moving toward a truly circular economy where resources are re-used for the entire lifespan of a development is now a more than a possibility- it is a reality.

We urgently need to reverse these trends

  • Increasing damage
  • Increasing waste
  • Increasing costs
  • Increasing risks
  • Increasing delays
  • Increasing disturbance
  • Increasing consumption

We urgently need to reverse these trends and create a circular economy.

Transforming a city from linear to circular is surprisingly simple....

We have the technology - and you will be surprised how quickly we can heal our cities and create a truly circular economy that will benefit generations to come. Within 2-3 years a city can make around 80% of all workload Smart (and the only cost is labour), saving millions over the lifespan of a development.
